Shirley Maxine Fleming (Flamme) passed away peacefully at the Hamlets in Duncan on December 3, 2024, at the age of 96. Shirley was born to Hazel and Roy Flamme on their farm in Glen Ewen, Saskatchewan on September 10, 1928.
Shirley worked for the Sask. Telephone Company after graduation and then met the love of her life, Lorne Fleming. They were engaged on December 23, 1950 and married on October 29, 1951, in Carnduff, Saskatchewan and began their life in Regina. They moved to Saskatoon and later to North Vancouver and finally to Duncan.
Shirley loved to garden and entertain family and friends. She was famous for her homemade bread, butter tarts, cinnamon buns and apple pies. She also loved to go out to eat but was known to drop everything if an invitation came along, even though dinner was ready.
Shirley is predeceased by her best friend and husband Lorne, who she lovingly called Pet, on May 10, 2024. Also predeceased is their loving son, Bob, her sister, Doreen (Jack) Highfield, her sisters-in-law Shirley (Mike) and Norma (Bud) and brother-in-law Lowell.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Dianne (Barry) Boucher and their children Andrew (Rogni) and Amy, daughter in-law Monica, her and Bob’s children, Jeffrey (Rebecca) and Aubrey and many nieces and nephews.
A gathering for Shirley and Lorne will be held at a later date.
