Emma was born the 3rd eldest of 16 children in Newtown NB on the Queen's birthday, April 21, 1927. This would prove quite fitting as, in her early years, she was known as “Lady Emma”, and subsequently as the “Queen”. Emma had a great sense of humour, quick wit, and the ability to win over the hearts of everyone she met. She left a lasting impression on those she touched, and a wee bit of tea in every cup!
Emma passed away peacefully on July 22, 2019 with her family by her side. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Hank, in 1982. Survived by her children, Linda and Leslie (Grant); grandchildren Jasmine (Dave), Matthew (Annie), Olivia (Daniel), Madison (Ryan), Gabriel, Kristie (Owen); and great-grandchildren Jordynn, Kaia, Fox, Sawyer, Maria and baby Jude. She will be fondly remembered as Nanabanana. Emma was predeceased by several sisters and brothers. She is survived by Bertha, Jean and Joan of ON; Rod of AB; and Shirley and Kenneth of NB.
Our most heartfelt thanks to all of those who shared a laugh and brightened Mom's days at Sherwood House and Acacia Ty Mawr. Our sincere gratitude to all the staff at Acacia for your kindness, compassion and endless support during her last days. We will not forget how wonderful you are. A special thanks to Jack Johnson, who over the last 16 months, re-lit a spark that had long since passed, bringing immense joy to Mom's life.
A tea in Emma's honour will be held at 2 pm on September 7, 2019 at 917 Jubilee St, Duncan, BC.
We love you Mom. You are gone, but will never be forgotten. You sure kept Dad waiting a long time!
