Devery Robert Salkeld of Mill Bay, British Columbia has completed his 67 trips around the sun. Dev was born the 29 of November, 1952. We know that it’s part of his playfulness to pass on the 29 of February, 2020 so we wouldn’t be able to gather for his passing for another 4 years. Lorie and Dev were married 40 years (46, with the wind-chill). He lived in the present; of all of his incredible accomplishments as a professional aviator and man of the globe, his children and wife were his proudest achievements. He was so many different things to different people, but what we all come back to are his passion to his family, dedication to his craft, his love of learning, and his awesome humour and stories.
Dev is survived by his wife, Lorie, his children, Matthew (Heather), Drayton (Leila) and Jessa (Ian), his grand-children, Hudson, Anora (Matt) and Hannes (Jessa), and his parents, Bob and Jessie Salkeld and sisters, Kay (Mike) and Linda (Ron). He will be remembered by many in his extended family and by countless individuals who are proud to have called him their friend.
We are so grateful to Dr. Nicol MacPherson and Staff of the BC Cancer Clinic and to all the wonderful and caring staff at Cowichan District Hospital. Due to chemical sensitivities, we ask for no flowers, though the thought is very considerate. In lieu of flowers, should you wish, donations may be made to the Duncan Flying Club or Cowichan District Hospital.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared here at www.firstmemorialduncan.com for the Salkeld family.
Thank you to those who attended Dev's Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at
the Duncan Flying Club, and thank you to those who were with us in spirit. Thank you to the incredible people who made it happen, and kept us smiling while we were there.
