Ursula grew up in West Duluth and was a graduate of Denfeld High School. She worked for the DM&IR Railroad in the Proctor roundhouse during WWII. Later on, she then was employed by Diamond Match until the plant closed in 1950. After Ursula raised her kids she went back to school to be a certified nurse’s assistant and worked for St. Luke’s Hospital until retirement in 1982. After retirement , Ursula spent much of her time volunteering for many different organizations.
Ursula enjoyed spending time putting together jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edson; and brothers and sisters.
Ursula will be greatly missed by her seven children, Alice (Bill) Sellwood of Bennett, WI, Dan (Carol) Zimmerman of Detroit, MI., Joe Zimmerman of Duluth, Rose Zimmerman of Duluth, John Zimmerman of TN, Mark (Robin) Zimmerman of Duluth, and Mary(Shane) Munn of Coarse Gold, CA; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. memorial service Friday, May 1, 2015 at St. James Catholic Church, 721 N. 57th Ave. W., Duluth. Interment will be in Oneota Cemetery.Please leave a memory of Ursula or words of support for the family at www.bellbrothersfuneralhome.com.
