John was born in Duluth on February 27, 1950 to Raymond and Bernice (Skog) Tanski. He graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1969 and joined the Air National Guard 148th soon after. Later on John went to work for the State of Minnesota Department of Agriculture as a grain inspector. He retired as a supervisor in 2006 after 30 years. On February 14, 1990 he was united in marriage to Lois Clark. John loved to fish and hunt. He was a practical joker who loved to make people smile and laugh. He had a deep rooted love and devotion for his family and friends. John lived by the motto “Live, Laugh and Love.” He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Richard and sister Nancy Witchall.
John is survived by the love of his life, his wife Lois; sons, Jarel of Duluth, James (Amber) of Saginaw; daughter Janel (Bradley) Olesiak of Brookston; stepchildren, Jason Edman of Delano, Danielle (Brian) Luukkonen of Duluth; 8 grandchildren; brothers Raymond (Darlene) of Gilbert, Bernard (Joan) and Robert (Barbara); sister Susan Dierks all of Duluth; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gloria (Robert) Usinger of Florida; mother–in-law Linda Clark of Superior as well as many nieces and nephews.
