John attended Duluth Denfeld High School where he was a star track athlete and held many records at the school. Before graduating he joined the United States Marine Corp. On May 26, 1976 he married the love of his life, Donna. He and Donna were co-owners of Barcodes Plus. Barcodes Plus is still family owned and operated and is celebrating 35 years in business this year.
He enjoyed golfing, gardening, feeding the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. He was a proud resident at Mount Royal Pines III assisted living facility where he loved and cared for all the staff and residents.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Donna Lundgren.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Karen (Bruce) Smith of Isanti, MN, George (Tina) Olson of Proctor, Patrick (Rhonda) Olson of Duluth, Brian (Laurie) Olson of Superior, Jackie (Ryan) Sather of Duluth, John Jr. (Jessica) Lundgren of Superior; and Andrew (Kristi) Lundgren of Cottage Grove, MN; his sister Barbara Corbel (Lundgren), of Port Charlotte, FL 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Visitation: 5-7:00 P.M. Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Duluth Gospel Tabernacle, 1515 West Superior Street, Duluth. The visitation will continue from 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service Friday, July 27, 2018 at the church.
