Janet Kae Terwey, 74, of Duluth passed away after a sudden brief battle of ovarian cancer on Wednesday, March, 3, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospice. She is now at peace and without any pain or suffering. She has gone to be with her husband, Dwayne and infant sons, Todd and Jay, in Heaven.
Janet was born July 17, 1940 to Joseph and Margaret (Johnson) Verlennich in Duluth. She attended Stowe Elementary and graduated from Morgan Park High School. Upon graduation she married her high school sweetheart, Dwayne Terwey, on April 6, 1957. They then settled in Fond Du Lac and raised their family.
During her lifetime she enjoyed working with people at careers with both US and Pioneer Bank, and also helping out with the family business at Mr. D’s.
She loved life on Perch Lake where she lived for over 50 years, and was able to stay independent with some help from her wonderful children and dear friend Lynn. She got comfort from the sights and sounds of nature, such as the singing of the birds, the beauty of the deer, and the honking of the geese overhead, which she saw as a sure sign of spring. Janet was also passionate about gardening and giving her flowers tender loving care. She truly loved the peacefulness and tranquility of her surroundings.
As much as she loved nature, she garnered most joy from caring for her family. She loved cooking, baking, and nurturing those around her. It was family above all else, especially true of her children.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Dwayne; two children, Todd and Jay; brother, John Verlennich; and her parents.
She is survived by and will be forever missed by her children, Alan (Laura) Terwey of Esko and Kelly (Chuck) Mandsager of Side Lake, MN; two grandchildren, Joseph Terwey and Alex Mandsager; brother, Dean (Jyl) Verlennich of Duluth; and many nieces and nephews. Heartfelt thanks to her wonderful and thoughtful friend and neighbor, Lynn Krall of Perch Lake and also her caring friends who supported her with flowers, cards, and loving prayers.
Private family services were held. Memorials preferred to Children’s Cancer Research, www.childrenscancer.org , 7301 Ohms Lane, Suite 460 Minneapolis, MN 55439, or the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the hospice nurses at St. Luke’s for their comfort and care, and special thanks also to Dr. Goellner, Dr. Heyer, and Jody Vonasek.
