Harvey was born in Duluth, Minnesota, August 29, 1920, to parents August and Selma Lindberg.
Harvey attended Central High School, and received training as an electrician at Dunwoody Technical School in Minneapolis. He joined the Army in 1941, and trained as a radar technician. When Harvey returned to Duluth, he married his sweetheart, Georgina Hood. They resided in Riverside, and remained devoted partners until her passing in 1990. They raised three sons, Randall, David and Dale. Harvey was an involved and caring father who spent much time walking, fishing and playing with his sons. Harvey was an exceptional father.
After the service he worked as an electrician on the DM&IR Railroad in Proctor. He also worked at Arrowhead Electric, and finally at Nylund Electric until his retirement.
Harvey and Georgina were married September 29th 1943, at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity in West End Duluth and remained members of that congregation. They had a very active social life including camping, fishing, bowling, and cribbage. Second to the love for his family, Harvey was happiest fishing and camping. He and Georgina enjoyed camping weekends with dear friends. Those who met “ol’ Harv” immediately liked him, and he considered everyone a friend.
He loved to camp and vacation with his sons. This carried through in his relationship with his grandchildren, all of whom he loved deeply. He enjoyed showing them the fun of camping, fishing and the art of cribbage.
Harvey had the good fortune to meet and marry Lucy Dever. They met as fellow Texas “snowbirds”, fell in love and married in 2000. They lived between northern Wisconsin, Illinois, and Texas, depending on the season. Eventually they settled in Princeton, Illinois, Lucy’s home town. They were surrounded in Illinois by her sons and her wonderful family.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, August and Selma Lindberg; loving wife, Georgina; son, Randall (Bonnie); and grandson, Joey.
He is survived by his second wife, Lucy Dever Lindberg; his sons, David (Phyllis) and Dale; five grandchildren, Jim, Angie (Brian), Kaytie (Ryan), Nick (Nicole), Jake (Cassy); and several great-grandchildren.
