Donald Don E Lane

Donald Edward Lane, 84, of Duluth, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was born to William and Jeanette Lane on March 19, 1929. Donald married Doris Milfaith in Kelsey, MN on September 20, 1952; recently celebrating their 60th anniversary.

Don was a 1947 graduate of Denfeld High School. He served in the Air National Guard and was a longtime member of the American Legion. He was a school bus driver and locksmith for Duluth Public Schools for 37 years. He worked hard and enjoyed spending lots of time at the lake cabin he and Doris built together. Don was devoted to his family and dearly loved his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Donald is survived by his wife, Doris; children, Lori (Tom) Hicks of Saginaw, Luanne (Kevin) McMillan of Duluth, and Daniel Lane of Duluth; grandchildren, David (Kassie) Hicks, Stephen Hicks, Kyle McMillan, and Samantha (Alex) Youngren; and one great granddaughter, Hattie Ruth Youngren. He is further survived by his extended family and friends.

The family would like to thank his physician, Dr. Craig Gilbertson, and also the staff at Golden Oaks in Proctor for their loving care of Don during the past year.

Funeral service will be Saturday, April 27 at 11:30 a.m. at Bell Brothers, 601 N 56th Ave W. Visitation one hour prior to the service, at the funeral chapel. Interment at Oneota Cemetery.
