Charles Marshall Reagle Jr., 85, of Duluth passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at Essentia St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born December 2, 1931 in White Plains, NY to Charles and Mary (Fithian) Reagle. Charlie was a lifelong Presbyterian who was strongly influenced by his grandfather, a Presbyterian minister in Pennsylvania.
He grew up in Darien, CT and graduated from The Gunnery School in Washington, CT. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Yale University in 1954. After graduating he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving for three years in France during the Korean War. Following military service, Charlie earned an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1959.
He spent his professional career in the advertising and marketing field, retiring in 1990 as Director of Marketing, Planning, and Research for Anheuser-Busch, Inc. in St. Louis, MO.
Charlie enjoyed immensely his many retirement years with his wife Maren and their lovable dogs, living in the mountains of North Carolina and for the past ten years on the shores of Lake Superior in Duluth, MN.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Charles, and by his older brother, William.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 35 years, Maren Gustafson Reagle of Duluth; children, Amy (Stephen) Meyers of Jaffrey, NH; Ted (Terry) Reagle of Guilford, CT; and John (Cynthia) Reagle of Columbia, SC; sisters-in-law Betty (James) Pascoe of Cotton, MN and Nancy (Mark) Melhus Duluth, MN; seven grandchildren; and four nieces and three nephews. Charlie is also survived by his first wife Nancy (Smith) Clapp of Jaffrey, NH.
At Charlie’s request, private family services will be held. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Essentia St. Mary’s Medical Center and The Fountains at Ecumen Lakeshore for their compassionate care of Charlie.
