Loving daughter, sister, cousin, friend, and awesome pet mom, Shelley Kay Purks died October 9, 2022 in Columbus, OH. She was born December 17, 1967, in Dayton, OH and grew up in Lebanon, OH. She is the daughter of Kay and Bob Crosby of Dublin, OH. She was baptized September 16, 1973, at St Francis DeSales, Lebanon. She graduated from Lebanon High in 1986 and received a BA degree in Anthropology from Wright State University in 1996. Her life experiences took her in many directions. She worked at three locations of the Import House for 20 yrs., in Yellow Springs, Athens, and managed the Columbus location until it closed. During high school, college, and after the closure of the Import House, she was always in customer service/sales oriented businesses, although she insisted that she loved animals more than people ‘because they are nicer’. Her greatest achievement is her many close friends. For her that was enough. She will be remembered by her compassion for others, quick witted humor, intelligence, stubbornness, and adventurous spirit. She was an avid reader, fan of Jeopardy (19 was her record of correct answers during a show), dedicated fan of the Cleveland Browns and OSU Buckeyes. She will be remembered as a true minimalist shopping at thrift stores, recycling queen, and caring for those less fortunate when she could. And hanging up on her mom if they disagreed. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving. We loved her. Preceded in death by her brother Jason Allen Kuntz, Stepdad Tony Kuntz, grandparents Ruth and Walter Daniel, Aunt Marlene Daniel, and Aunt Linda and Uncle Phillip Gilbert. She is survived by her parents, stepsister Julie (Ryan) Hershey, nephews Luke, Jake, Jonathan, and Jesse Hershey of Wooster, OH, Uncles Earl Daniel and Steve(Debbie) Daniel of Lebanon, OH, 6 cousins, her faithful pets Sugar Bear, Willis, Cutie, PeepPeep, KittyKitty, and treasured family and friends. Service for Shelley will be held at 11am, Saturday, November 19,2022, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 5475 Brand Road, Dublin, OH, with visitation from 10am-11am. Gathering of friends and family will follow with lunch provided. Donations in her memory may be made to your local animal shelter or humane society. Arrangements by Schoedinger Dublin.
