It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our special brother, John Franklin Lewis, on June 9, 2024, at 77 years old. Johnny was born in Montclair, New Jersey, on March 10, 1947. He is preceded in death by his parents, John D Lewis and Marie Magnotti Lewis. His surviving sisters are Alica M. Campanella of Columbus, Ohio, and Mary Ann Partin of Steele City, Nebraska.
In the 1960s, 70s, and 80s, John was active in Boy Scouts of America and Civil Air Patrol. He was quite the artist, so while still living with our parents, he was commissioned to paint a Warrior head on a Pataskala police cruiser. Then he attended school for small engine repairs in Cleveland, Ohio. He ended up living off OSU campus for several years and was a parishioner of the Newman Center. He also became a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, which researches and recreates pre 17th century combat, arts, culture, etc. Johnny was also honored to be inducted into the Knights of Columbus.
Because of health reasons, in the 1990s, Johnny lived in Health Care Centers using his talents and sharing with others. As JOJO the clown, he dressed and entertained the residents at Villa Angela and McNaughten Place
He put on puppet shows using his handmade puppets, as well. After a serious bout with Covid in 2020, all life as Johnny lived it changed. He was never the same. His sisters are taking him to rest in Clifton, New Jersey, at our home where our cousin still resides. It’s exactly what Johnny wanted.
Please consider donating to U.S. veterans in his name.
