Jimmy Lee Rowe, beloved husband, son, son-in-law, brother, uncle and friend, entered eternal rest Sunday December 8, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 52. Jimmy is preceded in death by his brother, James Lykins, and his stepfather, Jim Lykins. He is survived by his wife Catherine Belmont-Rowe, mother Rose (Rowe) Lykins, mother-in-law Linda (Frank) White, nephew Austin Lykins, and sister-in-law Sherri (McCoy) Lykins.
Jimmy and Catherine were married on April 25, 2003, in Williamsville, New York. In March of 2004, they decided they had enough of the Buffalo snow and moved to Columbus, Ohio. In 2005, they contracted to have their home built and moved in on December 15, 2005. Jimmy was so excited to move into their home and absolutely adored sitting together on the front porch. They took their vows very seriously to love each other in sickness and health. Jimmy struggled and ultimately succumbed to multiple chronic illnesses, and Catherine remained by his side.
Jimmy had a deep passion for technology and was employed by Dell Technologies at the time of his passing. He enjoyed taking on every opportunity facing his team and helping to find solutions to obtain the required outcomes sought.
Jimmy had a strong loyalty to his alma mater, Marshall University. He loved the football team. GO HERD! He participated in their marching band while attending Marshall. Jimmy’s adoration for all things music shined brightest when you heard him play the saxophone or clarinet. There are a couple YouTube videos (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkf-LJYJ0L4) out there of him trying out his new alto saxophone, which was a 40th birthday gift from Catherine. Jimmy also enjoyed singing and would often break out in song. Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd and Open Arms by Journey were among his favorites to sing. Jimmy participated in several Barbershop groups throughout the years.
Jimmy loved spending time with his mom, Rose. After retiring in July 2018, Rose joined Jimmy and Catherine in Columbus. Jimmy looked forward to spending more time with his mom. Rose and Jimmy spent many late nights into the morning talking about life. The three supported each other through various surgeries and illnesses.
Jimmy also enjoyed travelling. He traveled for work for many years. Once he extended a Florida work trip and talked Rose into flying for the very first time so that Catherine, Rose and he could enjoy a week at the beach.
Jimmy liked to bowl and enjoyed watching bowling on TV. He even taught Poo, the cat, to enjoy the sport. Every time Poo heard the balls hit the pins, on the TV, he would come running and curl up with Jimmy while watching the TV intently. Jimmy participated in many bowling leagues where he made many friends, some of whom became lifelong friends.
Jimmy was a great friend. He was an extrovert and loved nothing more than being around people. He loved football, and Catherine recently converted him to the Bill’s Mafia. He would scream “Let’s Go Buffalo” on game day. There were many Sundays where the house was lively with folks to watch football. Jimmy always joked to Catherine that it was a bonus finding a wife who loves football.
