Velma Pauline Kessler

She was born on February 4, 1931 in DuBois, the daughter of the late Charles G. and Amy (Christian) Beer.

Velma was a 1949 graduate of Sandy Township High School. She retired from JC Penny as a merchandiser.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in DuBois and St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Erie. She also was a member of the Gateway Garden Club and Treasure Lake Garden Club. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and gardening.

Mrs. Kessler is survived by her two sons: Larry and his wife June of Erie and Roger and his wife Annette of DuBois; a daughter Lori and her husband Bob Wood of Chantilly, VA; seven grandchildren: Amy, Elizabeth, Mark, Rachel, Sarah, Heather and Ryan; four great-grandchildren: Landon, Quinn, Chris and Haleigh; three sisters: Gaynell Gent of DuBois, M. Ruth Fitzpatrick of DuBois and Ida Marie Hutchins of Kersey, PA; and a brother Charles G. Beer Jr. of Lawrenceville, PA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry “Buck” Kessler who passed away on November 9, 2008 and a brother Francis Beer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 24, 2012 at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc. in DuBois, with Pastor Scott Maxwell officiating. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery, DuBois.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday, September 23, from 2-4. and 7-9 P.M. An additional hour of viewing will be held on Monday from 10 A.M. until the hour of service.
