Fred M. Arthurs

He was born on May 10, 1918 in Brookville, the son of the late Fred and Beulah (Vandervort) Arthurs. On April 25, 1943 he married Gertrude “Sammy” Arthurs, who passed away November 4, 2003.

Fred retired from DuBois Battery Works. He was a member of Falls Creek United Methodist Church and belonged to the Gideons.

Fred was known for his strong faith in God and devotion to his church. He loved spending time with his family and attending the races to watch his grandson Steve. He loved his entire racing family. His wife, children and grandchildren were the joy of his life.

He is survived by his four sons: Gerald (Nancy) Arthurs of Pittsburg, KS, Fred (Lillian) Arthurs of Danville, VA, James (Margi) Arthurs of Coopertown, NY and Samuel (Rickanne) Arthurs of Falls Creek, PA; son-in-law, Paul Smith of Reynoldsville; fifteen grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and a brother, Jack (Jane) Arthurs of Bulter, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife, daughter, Suzanne Smith, granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Arthurs and two brothers: Robert and Charles Arthurs.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc. with Rev Leon Blose officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 5:00pm until 9:00pm on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the funeral home. An additional hour of viewing will be held from 10:00am until the hour of service on Wednesday
