Richard (Dick) John Haupt, 91, of Yorkville, Illinois passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 14, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born on March 7, 1929 to William and Marie Haupt in Oak Park, Illinois. Rich graduated from Farragut High School, Chicago, Illinois. He was proud of his military service in the Army from 1951-52 and was able to enjoy the opportunity to participate in VetsRoll Honor Trip to Washington D.C. in 2018. Following an honorable discharge, he pursued a career in sales management primarily with companies in the valve and pump manufacturing industries, retiring in 1995.
When Richard first asked Marie "Mitzi" to dance at Melody Mill in North Riverside, little did he know how his life would be impacted.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie Josephine Haupt; his children, Lynda (Craig) Zuege of Sandwich, IL, Paul (Alice) Haupt of Platteville WI, Rick (Annette) Haupt of Yorkville, IL, and Rob (Juli) Haupt of Kalispell, MT; his grandchildren, Sarah (James) Moris, Heather (Riley) Oncken, Jessica (Andrew) Almburg, Rachel (Brandon) Parker, Emily (Tom) Dolce, Jenny Haupt, Molly Haupt, Daniel Haupt; 13 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Marion Haupt and Carol Sandowski; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Rich was devoted to his family. Rich enjoyed playing (2 holes in one) and watching golf. He rarely missed any fishing opportunities and passed his enthusiasm to his family. He was fond of doing his daily crossword puzzle. Richard was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, IL for many years while also attending Ss Mary and Paul Catholic Church in Mineral Point, WI and St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Yorkville, IL in recent months.
