Timothy Lewis Barber went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 after spending a little over 70 years with us. A true Georgian, Tim was born at Grady Hospital on April 14, 1950. He honorably served his country as a US Marine during the Vietnam War as 1st Lance Corporal. After returning home, he met and married his wife, Mazie, in August 1974 and they started their journey of raising a family. Tim started his 40+ year career as a flooring contactor, but never gave up his true love of flying and airplanes. He obtained his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying personal planes with his friends. Tim loved building and flying model airplanes as well. He was an avid guitar player and always had music playing. In recent years he enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports and spending time with family and pets.
Tim is preceded in death by his parents, Francis Swaney and Guy Barber.
He lovingly watches over his survivors: adored wife of 46 years, Mazie Diana Barber; his daughter, Kelley, and her husband Kevin Kee of Pike County; his son, Adam Barber of Douglasville. His two grandsons, Evan and Dylan Kee of Pike County; one brother and best friend, Chris Barber of Douglasville; 3 sisters, Deborah McGuire, Denise Thomas and Sharon Blair and their respective families.
The family will receive friends in the Rosehaven Chapel on Saturday November 7, 2020 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. A graveside service with Military Honors – flag presentation with taps will begin at 1:00 pm. Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Barber, Jon Greene, Kevin Kee, Dean Morgan, and Evan Kee.
