Peggy June Higginbotham Thompson, age 89, of Carrollton, Georgia passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024 in Carrollton, Georgia, following a lengthy illness. She was born March 19, 1935 in Folkston, Georgia. During her lifetime, Mrs. Thompson was employed (and retired) as a licensed practical nurse in Albany, Georgia. She enjoyed gardening, having inherited her mother, Rubie’s, green thumb. Mrs. Thompson was known to grow African violets from leaves. She also enjoyed cooking and frequently experimented with new recipes. Mrs. Thompson also loved spending time with her family and annual trips to the beach. She usually had a dog and a cat or two in her home. She was a lifelong member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church in Albany. She took all of her children to church at a very young age.
Preceding her in death were her husbands, Melvin Thompson, Bobby Rowland and Bernie Thompson; her parents, Hilton and Rubie Higginbotham; and a sister, Mickie Stickler.
Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Debbie Becker of Villa Rica, and Teri Lybarger (David) of Douglasville; niece, Dollie Patalivo (Pat) of Brunswick; five grandchildren who lovingly called her “Big Moma”, Vassie Greenwood (Charles), of Winston, Dawn Pannell (Scott) of Douglasville, Corey Becker (Candice) of Douglasville, Sam Becker of Villa Rica, and Ivy Becker Cann (Jason) of Villa Rica; great-grandchildren, Taylor Pierce, Nathan Greenwood, Grace Greenwood, Brantley Pannell, Render Pannell, MercyElise Pannell, Mackenzie Becker, Caroline Becker, Mathis Becker, Tyla Cann, Junior Cann, Emily Cann, Luke Cann and Miguel Cann; five great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family members and a host of friends.
A graveside service is planned for Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM in Rosehaven Memorial Park.
