John was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 17, 1943 and he was the youngest of thirteen siblings born to the late Thomas Turner and the late Ethel Clay Turner. John has joined his loving wife, Cheryl, in heaven and they were married for 55 years. He worked for the Local Union as a brick mason for forty years. He had a passion and skill for woodworking & built beautiful cabinetry of all types-some of which still exist in his home! John had been an avid Braves fan and spent lots of time with his wife, Cheryl, enjoying the games. He collected guns, watched the classic car channel & loved all the old Western shows, especially his favorites that starred John Wayne. John enjoyed time spent with his family, he was a dedicated family man and the proud father of twin sons.
He is survived by his twin sons, Rodney & Keith Turner, Daughter in law, Kelly Turner and two grandchildren, Carson & Camden Turner. He was informed just prior to his passing that he would be a great grandfather to a baby boy from Carson to carry on the Turner family name. He is also survived by brothers, Ralph & Ray Turner, sister, Lois Jenkins and many nieces & nephews.
In addition to his wife, Cheryl Turner, he is preceded in death by 6 brothers; William (Tody), Robert, Pete, Howard, Otis & James and 3 sisters; Annie Belle, Alice & Mildred.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.
The Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Chaplain Sam Braswell officiating.
