Inez passed away on September 4, 2016 after an extended illness. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, Neil M. Rowlett, Sr. (12/13/1925-06/13/2004). Inez was born June 17, 1931 in a Kitts, KY coal mining camp in Harlan County, KY. She was the oldest daughter of the late George Dewey (a coal miner) and Rosa Lea Howard. Inez was also predeceased by brothers Ralph Howard of Middlesboro, KY and Allen Howard of Harlan, KY.
Inez is survived by her three children: Barbara Waldron of Villa Rica, GA; Rebecca “Becky” Rutledge (James) of Winston, GA; Neil M. Rowlett, Jr. (Patricia) of Winston, GA. Also surviving are her three beloved grandsons: Greg Harris (Carrie) of Lakeland, FL, Jeffrey Rowlett (Jill) of Odenton, MD, Peter Rowlett (Nichoel) of Peoria, AZ; and three beautiful great-granddaughters: Hailey, Liza and Brooklyn; brothers: J.D. Howard, Sr. of Titusville, FL, George D. Howard, Jr. (Rose) of Baxter, KY; sisters: Norma Leas Howard of Dallas, GA, Delores Hickey of Loyall, KY, Peggy Richardson of Kennesaw, GA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 7th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with service immediately following in the Rosehaven Chapel with The Rev. Happy Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Melrose Hills Memorial Park in Villa Rica, GA.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Benton House of Douglasville and Halcyon Hospice for their kindness and care of Inez during her illness.
Inez was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and daughter. She will be missed by her family and friends. She was truly a “Coal Miner’s Daughter!”
