Dorothy was born on August 22, 1935, in Orange, NJ, the oldest child of Michael and Angelina (Battista) Palmieri with her two younger brothers Edward and Michael.
She graduated from West Orange High School in 1953 and married her high school sweetheart, William (Bill) Doyle in 1953. When Bill joined the Army in 1954, Dorothy was able to move to Germany in 1955 to be with her husband while he was stationed there.
Dorothy was a woman with a devout commitment to her husband and family. Dorothy put any college or business ambitions after her religious and family commitments. Later in life, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English from Florida Atlantic University. Aside from her being the foundation for her marriage and family, she has achieved many successes – school teacher, published writer and photographer, business owner/manager and banker are just some of the paths she successfully pursued.
She loved her jazzercise classes. She also loved dancing, cooking and baking. In the later years, she would always explore how to adapt her delicious recipes with an ever-watchful eye for her husband’s diabetes. She would do anything and everything to keep a watchful eye on her husband’s health and to ensure his Irish jokes did not stray too far out of line.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Edward.
She is survived by her loving husband Bill Doyle of Douglasville, GA, daughter Lisa (Kevin) Torrey of Pasadena, CA, son Jeffrey (Sharon) Doyle of Lawrenceville, GA, Michael (Laurie) Palmieri of Greenback, TN, and her sister-in-law Gerry Palmieri of Warner Robins, GA. In addition, she is also survived by four grandchildren, Casey and Sydney Torrey, and Kally and Hayley Doyle. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 5 until 8 o’clock pm. A funeral mass will be held at 11 o’clock am on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 4401 Prestley Mill Rd, Douglasville, GA 30135. A private interment will follow.
