Barney "BC" Walters Jr.

Mr. Barney “B C” Walters, Jr., age 83, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. He was born in Florence, South Carolina, son of the late Barney C Walters, Sr. and the late Nellie Walters Turbeville. He proudly served in the United States Air Force as a chaplain assistant.

BC was retired from the United States Postal Service with 35 of service. After retirement, he worked with several different funeral homes between South Carolina and Georgia. He worked for a number of years as deputy coroner of Douglas County. He was a faithful member of Dorsett Shoals Baptist Church, serving as Sunday School Superintendent. He also helped with Bible School and cooked Wednesday night meals at the church and also served as custodian.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Charles Levern Walters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Gloria Walters; sister, Bunny Dorriety (Jerry); several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; many cousins; and special friend, Tal Sizemore.

The visitation will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. Following the visitation, the service will be held at 2:00 pm in the Rosehaven Chapel with Reverend Tom Kaplin officiating.

A graveside service and interment will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Hope Cemetery and Mausoleum in Florence, South Carolina. Pallbearers serving at graveside will be Jerry Dorriety, Sean Dorriety, Bryson Dorriety, Tim Timmons and Tal Sizemore.

Military Honors will be observed in honor of his service.
