Alvin Jones

Mr. Alvin A. Jones, age 85, of Douglasville, GA passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016. He was born on December 20, 1930 in Dekalb County, AL. Mr. Jones was an active member of the Apostolic Tabernacle of the Living God Church. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. His passion, however, was being outside and gardening. He worked in the Garden Center with WalMart for 20 years.

Mr. Jones is preceded in death by his wife, Denese F. Jones, his parents, Clarence and Wonnie Jones; his daughter, Debbie Jones; as well as a son, Kenneth Jones.

He is survived by his son Michael Jones; step-sons Anthony Jones and Richard Barner; step-daughters Wanda Peters and Darlene Thigpen; grandchildren Angela Cecil, Adrian Stacy, Christopher Jones, Brandon Jones, Pam Elders, Liberty Peters, Jonah Peters, Jubilee Peters, Stephanie Singley, Scott Barner, Micah Wear, Jeannie Barner, Kelly Barner, Tim Jones, Dwight Jones, Cyndi Jones and Daniel Barner; four great-grandchildren as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and other family members.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 5 o’clock pm until 8 o’clock pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 11 o’clock am. Interment will take place Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Bryant, AL at 12 o’clock pm Eastern time.
