Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David McCauley officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Mr. McCauley was born February 5, 1953 in Atlanta, GA to the late Elijah McCauley and Annie Mae McCauley. He was a graduate of Brown High School and continued his education at Sparks Community College where he received an Associate of Electronics degree. He worked at General Electric Motor Plant for over 23 years, retiring in 2009.
Mr. McCauley gave his life to the Lord and later became an ordained minister and evangelist. His greatest joy came from ministering and singing of the Lord’s greatness. Mr. McCauley was a member of New Testament Holiness Church. He was also a great lover of music, played the keyboard, and loved to sing. He was a loving father and devoted husband. Mr. McCauley was a humble man, unpretentious, and foremost a man of God.
Preceding him in death was his father, Elijah McCauley and a sister, Cheryl Hawthorne.
Mr. McCauley leaves to cherish his memory his devoted and loving wife, Jannie McCauley of Shorterville; mother, Annie Mae McCauley of Dothan; brothers, Emmanuel McCauley (Debbie), David McCauley (Dorothy), and Derrick McCauley (Cassandra) all of Dothan; sisters, Beverly Rowland (Melvin) of Atlanta, GA, and Cynthia Williams of Dothan; children, Rachael McCauley-Goodson (Frankie) of Abbeville, Michelle Wright, and Sonia Waite (Frank), both of Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren, Noah, Nia, Shalanda, Walt, Jeremy, and Dawn; five great-grandchildren and a multitude of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
