During Robert’s enlistment in the USAF, he and his family moved throughout the country. After retiring from the military he relocated to Michigan and was employed by the City of Grand Rapids, Michigan in the radio communications department. He eventually retired from the City of Grand Rapids and enjoyed many retirement years traveling the United States and the British Isles.
Robert enjoyed flying planes, motorcycles, sailboats, and bike riding during his younger years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Virginia Howe; sister, Shirley Winner; brother, Larry Howe; and son-in-law, Dennis Carlson. Robert is survived by his wife, Louise Howe; brother, Leon (Trish) Howe; son, Phillip Howe; daughter, Carrie Carlson; granddaughter, Audrey Maclennan and her husband Bryce Maclennan; and sister-in-law, Wendy Howe.
