Our most beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed quietly at home late Thursday evening.
Dick started his life on the Miller family farm in Hopkins under the watchful eyes of his late parents, Maynard and Edna Bender Miller. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis; brother-in-law, Morey McBride; and infant son, Stephen.
After his schooling, Dick married Doris Bleeker and together they shared nearly 72 years. She survives him. Also surviving are his two sons Dennis (Ellen) of Bay City, MI and Mark (Pat) of Wayland; grandchildren Paul, Stephen (Jeni), Benjamin and Matthew (Michelle) and Katie (Jason) Konkel; great-grandchildren Seth and Isaac Miller, Jack and Violet Miller.
Dick's family was a constant source of pride for him and he thoroughly enjoyed being updated on all their latest adventures and events.
His agricultural career spanned many decades, and early on he spent time at Pet Milk, and later at Ellen's Machinery in Wayland. After retiring from the dairy farm, Dick and Doris relocated to Wayland where they enjoyed living for the past 34 years.
At this time our hearts are heavy, but it comforts us to know that he is at peace resting in the loving arms of his Lord.
A celebration of Dick's life will be held from 3 - 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services (Dorr Chapel), 4330 18th St., Dorr, MI 49323 with a time for music and sharing of memories at 4 p.m. Dick will be laid to rest at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Maplewood Cemetery, 1643 130th Ave., Hopkins, MI 49328. In memory of Dick and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wayland Area EMS or Hospice of Michigan.
