A native of Thibodaux and resident of Vacherie, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022. Michael was 72 years old.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Georgette Becnel Guillot. He was the father of Michael Guillot, Jr and Joseph Guillot and his wife Mindy Becnel Guillot. His pride was his grandkids, Jaice Michael Guillot, Avery Elizabeth Guillot and Preston Joseph Guillot.
Michael was one in 10 children of the late Joseph and Mabel Naquin Guillot of Thibodaux.
When Michael was 13 months old, he tragically drowned in the bathtub in Thibodaux. Through the quick response from the City Police Department , the Fire Department’s Emergency Unit and the staff at St. Joseph Hospital, Michael was revived with the use of an iron lung device. Those events culminated with Michael living a life of volunteer service.
For many years Michael mentored young men as a football coach and cub scout leader. He assisted coaching many young ladies in travel softball. He never met a person that remained a stranger. His love for all sports goes unrivaled, especially his love for the LSU Tigers.
Michael was one of the founding members of the South Vacherie Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad. During his tour, he has served the community in every rank and position in the Department, saving countless lives and property in Vacherie and neighboring communities. He was a lifetime member of the Louisiana State Fireman’s Association.
A visitation for Michael will be held Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Vacherie, LA. A mass of christian burial will occur Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 11:00 AM, Vacherie, LA. A burial will occur Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Our Lady of Peace Mausoleum, Vacherie, LA.
