James was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. A devoted family man, he always prioritized his family's needs. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, listening to music, playing tennis, and gardening. As a devout Catholic, he cherished his faith deeply. Jimmy was proud to be a member of the first graduating class of Nicholls State University in 1950 and earned his accounting degree from Louisiana State University in 1952. He also served as a proud veteran in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. For thirty-five years, Jimmy dedicated his career to being an auditor for the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his five children, Julie Landry (Glenn), Teresa Landry (JR), Jan Landry (Fred), Charles Maurin (Mai-Ly), and Vicki Fernandez (Jude); nine grandchildren, Lauren, Matthew, and Marie Landry, Jessica and Grace Landry, Brittany Foret (Cody) and Lloyd Boudreaux III, and Madelyn and Mason Fernandez; three great grandchildren, Saphira and Annabell Foret and Everleigh Boudreaux.
He is preceded in death by his wife of fifty three years, Genevieve Callegan Maurin; parents, H. George and Ethel Blanchard Maurin, and two brothers, H. George Maurin II and Joseph "Bubby" Maurin.
Pallbearers will be: Glenn Landry, Matthew Landry, Joshua Chilton, JR Landry, Fred Landry, Lloyd Boudreaux III, Jude Fernandez, and Mason Fernandez.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Clausen, all his sitters, especially Gwen Morris and Losonna Truxillo and the entire staff at the Carpenter House for their care and support.
A visitation will be held at St. Jules Catholic Church in Belle Rose on Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 9am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Entombment will follow at the Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church Cemetery.
