Shirley Scheuer, born on July 23, 1922, in Queens, was a 1943 graduate of Queens College and had a master's degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Shirley was widowed twice and was the mother of a daughter and two sons. After a career in advertising, she retired to Ridge, where she became the piano accompanist for a community choral group that performed in libraries and nursing homes in Suffolk County. She also became an avid canasta player.
