Murray Gilbert Marshall, our dearly loved father, husband, brother, grandpa, great grandpa has passed away quietly at home on October 23,2024, in his hometown of Digby. Murray was born to Guy and Lorraine Marshall in South Range on February 6, 1946. Murray's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his community and his faith in God.
Growing up in Digby, Murray attended Digby Regional High School. He embarked on a successful career in retail in the 1970's, eventually becoming the President/Store Manager, and later a co-owner, of Wilson's Home Hardware in Digby. He was always well known for doing his very best to find solutions to look after his customers. In the Digby area, Murray served on various community and health boards. Even in his later retirement years, he was always helping someone….mowing a senior’s lawn, fixing a pump, figuring something out for a neighbor… Murray loved to help others and was great at solving problems. As one of his daughters always said, “My Daddy can do anything!”
Murray was a huge part of the South Range Christian Church for most of his lifetime, where he served for years as an Elder; teaching, singing, preaching, and helping wherever needed. His faith and service has left a lasting impact on his church family and those around him.
Murray loved traveling including driving across Canada and parts of the US with an RV in tow (the bigger the better!). Murray also loved playing euchre, fishing and four wheeling with the grandkids, coffee at McDonalds with his pals and golfing with friends in Florida. So many wonderful family memories include sharing great meals together; Murray loved good food, and was well known for his comment, "Bring on the pie!"
Murray is survived by his wife, Shirley (Avery) Marshall; children, Andrea (Tim) Sabean, Carla (Karl) Kolada, Nancy (Troy) Rickard, and David (Anna) Marshall; siblings, Larry Marshall (Marilyn), Phyllis Vree (Martin, deceased), Marilyn Robicheau (Robert); sister in law, Lynda Marshall (George-deceased); grandchildren, Jessica Kuryluk, Drew Sabean, Hannah and Sam Fournier, William Kolada, Emily Preun, Lauryn Kolada, Addison and Ariel Rickard, Cooper, Hudson and Oliver Marshall; great-grandchildren, Levi, Grayson, and Claire Sabean, Ellwyn Preun, Beckett Fournier; and dear family friend, Sean Lockhart (Amy). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl, father Guy, mother Lorraine and brother George.
