George "Soon" Wong

At the age 78, Soon passed away on Monday November 25th, 2013 in Digby General Hospital. He was a son of the late Warren Wong and Yee Shung Wong. Soon was born July 16, 1935 in Canton China and came to Digby in 1961 to work in his father's restaurant, “The Cornwallis Café”. He later established the House of Wong restaurant with his partners. Soon enjoyed a successful work career and social life. His favorite activities included golf, family gatherings, listening to music, and card tricks. He spent his last days surrounded by his family. Soon will be missed greatly by his family, He is survived by wife, Helen Wong; Daughters, Maria Wong (Eric Bell), Julie Wong (Sean Fredericks), son, David Wong, Grandchildren, Pamela (Gavin) Shoebottom, Madeline Wong (Chris Adamson), Nathan Wong (Michelle Todd), Vanessa Bell (Angus Cleveland), Kyle Bell, Connor Fredericks, Great Grandchildren, Breanna Wong, Jackson Shoebottom, nieces and nephews, Stephen Yee, Bessie Chiu, June Hum, Bruce Yee. Soon was predeceased by father Warren Wong, mother Yee Shung Wong, son, Peter Wong and sister, Joan Yee.
