Dorothy Mary Pierce, age 103, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on June 20th, 2024 at the Villa Acadienne in Meteghan, NS. Born on December 5th, 1920 in Lindsay, ON to a large family, she endured a challenging and ever-changing world in her lifetime. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by her parents, John & Edith (Melanson) Amon and her loving husband, Leslie Pierce; four brothers, John, Thomas, Joseph, Philip; eight sisters, Hilda, Hazel, Rebecca, Olive, Marion, Catherine, Pauline and a brother she raised as her own, Larry.
Survived by her loving children, Ronnie (Elaine) Pierce, Bill (Sharon) Pierce, Phyllis (Dale) Knickle and Patsy Pierce; seven grandchildren, Angela Yeo, Sarah Stark, Matthew Stark, Natasha Theriault, Cory Pierce, Taylor Pierce, Erin Cox; twelve great grandchildren, Marcus, Carly, Grace, Avery, Noah, Kylee-Mae, Bentley, Isaac, Chloe, Anthony, Dawson, Zackery and one, soon to be two, great great grandchildren, Maxwell and Jack.
Dorothy moved to Brighton when she was three months old and moved next door to the love of her life whom she married on July 29th, 1955. Always wanting to work with children, she became a foster parent and fostered at least twenty other children in her younger years. Her home was always open and welcomed to whomever needed a warm bed, hot meal, cup of tea or just love. She will fondly be remembered by many as Mom or Grammy. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 28 at 1:00 pm from Jayne's Funeral Home, Digby. Rev. Mark Cress officiating. ***The reception will now also be held at Jayne's from 2-4pm.***
