Melanson, Charles William - 85 of Marshalltown, Digby Co. passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Marshalltown, Charlie was a son of the late Morris and Bertha (Thibault) Melanson. He was a member of St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church and a Caretaker of Madonna Cemetery for many years. Charlie worked as a fish cutter for many years then retired after 32 years working for Marine Atlantic. Charlie was a very loyal Toronto Maple Leafs fan and also enjoyed a good game of cards. He was always there to help others in need. Charlie loved his family and will be missed greatly by daughter, Valerie (Myles) D’Ambrose, Digby; son, Jimmie (Joan) Melanson, Marshalltown; sisters, Lucy Amero, Digby and Helen (Charles) Day, Dartmouth. Charlie was a wonderful grandfather to Laurie (Robert) Whalley, Melanie (Shaun) Beck and Ian Melanson. Great Grampie Charlie’s pride and joy are, Hannah Melanson, Makayla and Jaxson Whalley. Charlie was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Roselyn “Aggie” Mary Amero, sisters, Estelle and Catherine, brothers, Dennis, Leo, Hughie, Howard and special nephew, Ray. Visitation, 2-4 and 7-9 Tuesday March 27th at Jayne’s Funeral Home, 7 Birch St. Digby (245-2525) Funeral Mass, 1pm Wednesday March 28th from St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Digby. Father Keith Billard presiding. Interment in Madonna Cemetery, Marshalltown. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Charlie may be made to I.W.K Children’s Hospital.
