Duane Paul Braun passed away early November 24, 2019 peacefully at home. Born June 26, 1927 to Paul H. Braun and Melvina Clough. He lived a rich and happy life. His early years were in the Ann Arbor and Saline area, then in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where he met his wife of 72 years, Jean (McInnis). They married in June of 1947 and soon moved back to the Ann Arbor area settling in Dexter where they raised three children, Andy, Bob and Cheri.
Duane made many lifelong friends. Many whom he met while working in the Ann Arbor area at King Seeley, Chrysler, Sycor, Northern Telecom and Hy-Stat as a Set-up man, and eventually, Foreman. Not only was he a mentor to those at work, but he developed close friendships with them. He reinforced those friendships by spending time outside of work - auto-racing, bowling, hunting, golfing, fishing, and playing cards. He was very social!
Friendships continued even after his retirement to Florida in 1985. A great do-it-yourselfer, he was always willing to help on a home project, car issue, and give you the confidence to just try, even if you had to do it again. A conversation, game of cards and a beer were always available. Family and friends were the most important things to him, consequently the Braun home (and garage) was full of laughter and fun, resulting in many stories. He loved people.
During his 92 years, Duane loved his life and lived it to the fullest - even while fighting health challenges. His family will miss him dearly and appreciates the example he set on how to love others.
Duane is survived by his wife Jean F. (McInnis); Sister Geraldine McInnis (Robert “Pete” - deceased); Sister, Paula LaRoy (Gus); Brother-in-Law, Richard McInnis (Jeannie Jones); Son Andrew (Pamela Tyskiewicz); Son, Robert (Kimberly Gagnon); and Daughter Cheryl Braun; and many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren nieces, nephews and cousins.
