Carol Joan (Kolander) Staples passed away on November 2nd, 2021. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Howard L. Staples, her children, Dawn (Jeffrey) Schaerer, Chad Staples, Carrie (Adam) Bodenmiller, Bonnie (Matthew) Vanderveen, and Amanda Staples, her grandchildren, Courtney (Michael) Bappert, Melanie (Nick) Schaerer, Wes Bodenmiller, Eli Vanderveen, Ian Vanderveen, Gavin Staples, Aiden Bennett, and Jay Jay Clay, as well as her great-grandchildren, Lydia, Leah, Nolan & Maverick.
She loved nothing more than spending time with family. She was a great mom, making sure we all learned many necessary life skills, including cooking, baking, canning, and sewing.
As a collector of many things, she was especially proud of her Fiesta Ware collection and other antiques & collectibles that she gathered over the years. She loved garage sales and flea markets, always looking for a good deal or new addition to her collection. She loved to read, especially James Patterson novels and Elvis was her all-time favorite performer.
She was a lifelong resident of Dexter, having graduated from Dexter High School in 1962 and previously attending St. Joseph’s Catholic school.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin & Lois Kolander and her brothers, David and Gary Kolander. A small, private family funeral is planned. A Celebration of Life event will take place in the summer of 2022.
