Richard (Andy) Andersen, age 93, was born on July 29, 1931, to Divine and Zola Andersen in Ionia, MI. He passed away on Aug 26, 2024. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Betty Van Horn and raised 2 daughters, also in Ionia. He loved bowling and was on a men's league and went to tournaments for many years. He worked at Oldsmobile in Lansing. He also was a fisherman throughout his life time eventually buying his mom’s cottage on Big Pine Island. He was a member of the Ionia Moose. He relocated to Lansing where he met his wife Rose. They retired to Brownsville, Texas and spent summers at the cottage until staying in Texas year round. Eventually they moved back to Michigan living at Independence Village in Grand Ledge, MI. After the death of his wife Andy moved to Green Acres, Ionia, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosemary; daughter, Pam Montanbault; stepdaughter, Margie Bobier; stepson, Kelly Brandon; sisters, Bernita Brower, June Culp, Joyce Vineyard and brother Leon Andersen.
He is survived by his sister, Carol (Bruce) Lester; daughter, June (Mike) Swiger; stepchildren, Jenni (Steve) Fernand, Nancy Brandon, Lou Brandon, and Joe Brandon; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on September 5, 2024, with visitation at 10.30 and service at 11.30 at Galilee Baptist Church, 291 Orchard St., Saranac, MI. A luncheon will follow then graveside at Easton Cemetery on Johnson Rd, north of M21.
