Paulette Powers

She was born on May 4,1949 in Lansing, Michigan to Vincent and Barbara Kieffer.

Paulette graduated from Gabriel's Catholic High School in 1967. Following high school, she attended beauty school before embarking on a successful career in retail, starting at Kmart, and retiring as a cake decorator for Walmart. Her creativity and love for cake decorating brought joy to many people's lives. Paulette shared her Catholic faith with her children, first attending St. Therese and later Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Paulette's zest for life was evident in her many interests including Caribbean cruises, visiting casinos, trips to Lake Michigan and spending time with family and friends. Her love for crafts, traveling, and exploring new places reflected her adventurous spirit. Paulette was deeply loved for her kindness, warmth and giving spirit.

She is survived by her four beloved children, Joy Powers-Beland, Paul Powers, Marcie (Norman) Powers Gomez, and Jennifer Powers; her cherished grandchildren, Joshua Smitley, Mariah Powers, Ana Gomez, and Thomas (Emily) Beland; and great-grandchildren, Ivory Smitley and Isaac Smitley. Paulette is also survived by her siblings, Mary Symonds, Robert (Susan) Kieffer, Janice Hansen, and Robert Herr; nieces and nephews, Stephanie (Daniel) Biegaj (Bonus Daughter), Micole Herr, Kelli (Brant) Keener, Sara Herr, Marlon Herr, and Vincent Kieffer; and many cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Barbara Kieffer; her sister, Carol Herr; brother-in-law, Robert Hansen; and son-in-law, Bryan Beland.

Paulette’s spirit of love, kindness, and adventure will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.

A visitation for Paulette will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes DeWitt Chapel, 205 E Washington St., DeWitt, MI 48820. A Mass of Catholic Burial will take place on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM, with a one-hour prior visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 102 W Randolph St., Lansing, MI 48906.
