Lisa Ann Thelen

Lisa Ann Thelen, age 67, of DeWitt, was called home to be with the Lord on May 10, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Patricia Meyers; her parents-in-law, Alex and Rosemary Thelen; sister-in-law, Carol Ann Thelen, and nephew, Steven Thelen. Her love for life will be continued on by her husband of 43 years, Daniel Thelen, along with their three sons: Thomas Thelen (fiancée Michelle Flowers), Scott Thelen, and Christopher Thelen. Also surviving her are her step-grandchildren, Jacob, William, Matthew, and Jonathon; her brother, Scott (Cheryl) Meyers; and siblings-in-law, Marlene (Fred) Martin, Don (Debbie) Thelen, Dave (Carol) Thelen, Steve (Beth) Thelen, and Debbie Thelen, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Lisa showed God’s love, kindness, and mercy through everything she did. She was an amazing wife, mother, and friend who always enjoyed meeting new people and being involved at St. Jude Catholic Church of DeWitt. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, caroling at Christmas time at nearby nursing homes, and volunteering as a religious education teacher through her church. She also had an incredible love for giving care to the elderly.

Some of Lisa’s favorite hobbies were reading, crocheting, and taking pictures of nature, from leaves changing in the fall to flowers blooming in her flower bed in the spring.

One of Lisa’s proudest moments was making the Dean’s List multiple times at Lansing Community College. She was just shy of finishing her associate degree in Gerontology only by a few classes due to the hectic pace of life and work.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14th at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home in DeWitt from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a Rosary being prayed at 7:30. A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in DeWitt on May 15th at 11:00 am, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the Mass. Interment will follow at DeWitt Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Lisa’s name may be made to the American Breast Cancer Foundation and your local Humane Society.
