Linda was a 1958 graduate of Dewitt High School. She then went on to Michigan State University to pursue her Master's degree and graduated in 1962. She worked for Stanton High School as the physical education instructor for approximately five years.
She then started an amazing career with Grand Ledge High School for 28 years. When she joined the faculty, she soon discovered there was not basketball or softball programs for girls at the school. Linda was the pioneer of the girls' basketball and softball programs at Grand Ledge High School. Softball was probably the sport she enjoyed the most, she coached it from 1973 to 1983 and captured five Capital Area Conference and three West Central Conference championships. She also was inducted into the Grand Ledge High School Hall of Fame.
Linda was also a pioneer for her role in starting the first Softball Classic, which is now held at Ranney Park in Frandor.
After her 28 years with Grand Ledge High School, she retired to Carp Lake near Mackinaw City in 1995. She ended her 33-year career as a teacher, coach, and physical education instructor. She worked for Shepler's Ferry Service and Mackinaw Clothing Company. She loved having her family at her cottage when they came to visit her!
Michigan State University was another one of Linda's passions, she loved to watch football and basketball. GO GREEN!
Preceding her in passing are her parents Robert and Violet (Becker) Hill; brother Richard Hill; sister Terri Howe; and brother-in-law David Emmons.
Linda is survived by her brother Daniel (Sandy) Hill; and sister Jennine Emmons; sister-in-law Gail Hill; nieces: Jennifer Roystin, Victoria Hill, Kristin Hill, and Kim Smith; nephews: Scott Emmons, Michael Emmons, and Steven Bunch. Linda also had a special dog, named Sassy, who was her constant companion and friend.
