Her life began in Cleveland OH as the second child of Mary and Forest Marble. Her childhood in Solon OH taught her the importance of discipline, loyalty, and service. She married young and followed her husband to the west coast while he finished his Naval service, where they welcomed their son in California. The small family returned to Ohio and grew their family with twin girls and their youngest daughter.
Edie worked as a nurse and then raised her young family while stating a new church in Hudson OH through the 1960's. In 1970, the family of 6 moved to DeWitt MI. Edie recommitted her life to Christ in those early years in Michigan and found a renewed purpose in her church community and areas of Christian service. In her later years, with grown children and a new independence, she returned to nursing, and poured herself into all of the friends and organizations that God put in front of her. She began new social gatherings, she joined leadership teams, and she served on committees and in schools. She stayed busy with family and traveled with friends and her daughters.
Her relationship with her younger sister, Margaret, remained one of her closest right to the end; talking, traveling, visiting, and face-timing with her regularly. She was also extremely close with her 3 girls, prioritizing weekly crafting sessions, bible studies, neighborly check ins, thrifting trips, outdoor work days, and any excuse for ice cream. Edie was always making connections with people and spreading God's love. She never met a stranger, and often found that she knew someone, somehow, everywhere she went.
She viewed her life as a ministry to those around her and even as a resident at Grace Haven Assisted Living; she shared her faith regularly with staff, residents, and new friends. Her impact was felt by many and all who loved her will miss her.
She preceded in death by her parent's, her brother Robert Marble of Billings MT and her great granddaughter Dilynn Goodknecht. She leaves behind her large family of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as her sister Margaret (Avalon) Duffie, of Solon OH, nieces, nephews, and many extended family across the country.
Her children; Larry (Haila) Hayner, Deb (Tom) Kirchen, Diane (Fred) Gibbs, and Carol (Joe) Ingraham, along with her 12 grandchildren, their spouses, and 28 great-grandchildren, invite you to join them to celebrate her life. There will be a visitation from 5-7 on Sunday October 6 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home in DeWitt MI and a visitation from 10-11 with a service at 11, at Northpointe Community Church, 505 E Webb Dr. in DeWitt, on Monday October 7 followed by a luncheon after.
They also ask that in addition to any floral arrangements, that support of CorsoCare Hospice or Family Life Radio be considered for your generosity in her honor.
She will be laid to rest in DeWitt, but will live for eternity with her heavenly Father.
