Robert Azad Koujourian

Robert Azad Koujourian, 100, of Des Plaines was the loving husband for 70 years of Betty (nee Cunningham) Koujourian; devoted father of Ken Koujourian, Tom Koujourian, Carol (Ken) Juranek and Janet (James) Black; dear grandfather of Liz Juranek, Bob Juranek, John Juranek, Daniel Black, and Stephanie Black; fond brother of the late John Pershing (Lorraine) Koujourian and the late Louise (late Lawrence "Whitey") Koenig. Robert served in the United States Marine Corps from 1942 to 1945 receiving the Purple Heart. For his 100th birthday, Robert was honored with a parade for his service in the military. Members from the Patriot Guard and Marine Corps Recruiting Command were in attendance as were other veterans to honor Robert. Robert would eventually become a Battalion Chief for the Chicago Fire Department where he retired in 1984.

Visitation will be Friday, July 16, 2021 from 3-8pm at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St., Des Plaines, IL. Prayers will be said Saturday, July 17 at 9:15am at the funeral home and proceed to St. Mary Catholic Church, 794 Pearson St., Des Plaines, IL for funeral Mass at 10am. Interment All Saints Cemetery.
