Mary L. Burge

Mary Burge, 62, of singer, LA., passed away from this life on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at her residence from an extended illness.

She was born on January 30, 1951 in DeQuincy, LA. She worked for the U.S. Postal service from 1982 to 2002 when she retired. Her hobbies were working in her garden, tending to her roses bushes and spending time with her family. She was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years Ronald Wayne Burge Sr. of Singer; two sons, Ronald Wayne Burge Jr. and wife Angel of Singer; Richard Jackson Burge andwife Crystal of Singer, five grandchildren who were her pride and joy: Christopher, Caitlin, Cynthia, Tiffany and Nicholas all of Singer, Two sisters, Opal VanWinkle and husband Wayne of Oretta, Shirley Kregal and husband Steve of Florida, one brother, James Hext and wife Kathy of DeQuincy and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ruby Hext and one son, Christopher Wayne Burge. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved by so many.

A funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Friday, December 3, 2014 at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy. A visitation will be Thursday, December 2, 2014 from 5pm to 9 pm at the funeral home and will resume at 8:00 am until the time of service. Brothers Jerry Hext and Samuel Ashworth will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Newlin cemetery in Singer.
