Evelyn J Miller

Evelyn J. Miller, 88, of DeQuincy, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 8:30 pm at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born October 25, 1925 in Burkeville, TX to Herbert and Delza (Crocker) Dickerson. She married Wayne Robert Miller on February 5, 1944 and he preceded her in death August 25, 2009. Her parents, one brother, Thamar Dickerson and one sister, Naomi Garnette preceded her in death.

Surviving are her two sons, Rodney Wayne (Debra) Miller of Mauriceville, TX and Gary Lynn (Debra) Miller of Jennings, LA; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Herbert S. Dickerson Jr of Alexandria, LA and Don All Dickerson of Pflugerville, TX, and two sisters, Joanna White of Port Allen, LA and Karen Schrieber of Orange, TX.

Evelyn worked as a receptionist in the medical field for many years before retiring. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of DeQuincy, where she was a Sunday school teacher and sang with the choir.

A visitation will be Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 5 to 9 pm at Hixson-Snider in DeQuincy. Visitation will resume on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 11:00 am until the start of service at 1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in DeQuincy. The Rev. Rob Walls will officiate. A burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Bridge City, TX
