DeQuincy--Donald G. Worthy, 73, died January 20, 2011 in a local hospital. He was a retired High School Science Teacher, having taught in several Texas and Louisiana schools. His joy was his involvement in Science Fairs and accompanying his students to various fairs across the states. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking. He was very involved in First Baptist Church of DeQuincy, having served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, choir member and on various committees. He was a McNeese State University and Mississippi State University Alumnus.
He is survived by his wife, of 51 years, Annie B. Worthy of DeQuincy, sons, Brian L. Worthy of DeQuincy and Kevin R. Worthy of Austin, TX., grandchildren, Zoe Worthy Acuna and husband, Daniel of Austin, TX. and Regan Tindle of Bryan, TX., a great grandchild, Julian Acuna of Austin, TX., sister, Madelyne Ward of Epsom, N.H. special niece, Connie Green Latiolais of Hawaii. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl B. and Eva Roderick Worthy and his sister, Earleen Green Smith.
Services will be Monday, January 24, 2011 at 10a.m. in First Baptist Church of DeQuincy. Burial will be in Clark Cemetery in Fields, LA. under the direction of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 4-9p.m. in Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy and will resume in the church on Monday from 9a.m. until time of service.
