Wilma Mae Engelhardt, 97, passed away September 13, 2015 with her son & family by her side. Wilma lived in Colorado for 91 years and moved to Richland WA in June 2015 to live with her son and family.
Wilma was born October 14, 1917 in Rankin, IL. Wilma lived in Paxton, IL. At age six her family moved to Denver, CO for her sister’s health. She graduated from South High School in Denver, CO.
Wilma was a member of the Eastern Star, the DAR, Women’s Variants Club, a Native American Indian hobbyist club, a church choir for over 50 years, and the Jolly “J’s”. She volunteered for the American Red Cross for over 20 years, the Gates Clinic, the Denver Museum (Native American Indian Artifacts section). Wilma was recognized for her volunteer efforts throughout the years. She also worked for a short time in a stamp collection store.
Wilma married H. Kenneth Engelhardt in November 1940. She was proud to have been able to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Wilma enjoyed reading, gardening, handwork, sewing and camping.
Wilma is survived by her son, Kenneth L. Engelhardt (Mary); grandchildren, Paige Heydon, Michele Dillman (Blase), Angela Engelhardt, Kristina Raley (Jim) and Kenneth K. Engelhardt. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers; one sister; daughter, Carolyn Heydon and son, Stephen Engelhardt.
A memorial service will be held on 10/3 at 10AM at the Spirit of Hope United Methodist Church, Englewood CO. Interment will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on 10/5.
