William was born March 4, 1920 in Hammond, Indiana. Passed into rest December 4, 2012 at home with family in Highlands Ranch Colorado, age 92.
William served his country honorably during World War II, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant in the Army. William served with The Army Corps of Engineers 341st Engineer Regiment, building the ALCAN Highway; receiving unit citations for Meritorious Conduct. William was awarded the Bronze Star Medal by direction of the President and Ordered by the commanding General, I Corps, for meritorious Achievement in Luzon, Philippines. William was further decorated for service in Japan and the Asia Pacific Theater.
He will be missed by his son, John William Anderson and his wife, Virginia; grandson, Frank Joseph Anderson; step-grandsons, Stephen James Squires; Myron Christopher Squires (Ioana); and his great granddaughter, Olivia Squires. William was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Olive Veon Woman Anderson. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Olinger Hampden Mortuary, 8600 E. Hampden Avenue in Denver, CO. His final tribute will be held in Early January at East Lawn Palms Mortuary & Cemetery, 5800 E. Grant Rd in Tucson, AZ. Following the service, he will be inurned next to his wife.
