Norma Jean Kincaid, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in Denver on November 22, 2023. Norma was born April 28, 1937, in Denver, Colorado, seventh of ten children born to Clyde and Alma Ebbs. She grew up in North Denver and attended Westminster High School where she was a cheerleader. She married Dale Crossland in 1956. Norma and Dale had three children. (Dale) Mitch, Derrick and Kevin.
In the mid-1960s she started her long and prosperous career as an employment recruiter. Over the years she worked for Snelling and Snelling, Office Placement Services and finally at Talent Tree. Norma was an incredibly determined and accomplished career woman who was a top performer year after year. She thoroughly enjoyed her work as well as the success that came with it, so much so, that she worked until she was seventy years old.
Norma met Peter Abbey, the love of her life, in the early eighties and they shared a wonderful life together in Southeast Denver. They enjoyed entertaining, traveling to Boston to visit family, and going on frequent trips to Mexico. Both found great joy in catching Red Sox games at Fenway Park.
Above all, Norma was a dedicated, passionate, and deeply loving sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She adored each and every one of her seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, indulging them on any occasion but especially for birthdays and Christmas, her favorite time of year.
Her keen sense of style was a staple at every event she attended, whether it be a formal affair or a casual lunch. Always coordinating her outfits and passing on her flair to those that she shopped for. Her personal style and grace were legendary. Norma enjoyed spending her time going to concerts, restaurants, the Denver Botanic Gardens, and of course the YMCA with her many close friends. She was an avid gardener with a true green thumb, a diehard Denver Broncos fan, and was often found buried in books preparing for her next book club event.
She is survived by her son, Mitch and his wife Diane of Thorton, Colorado; son Derrick and his wife Danielle, of Islamorada, Florida; son Kevin and his wife Amy of Grand Lake, Colorado. Seven grandchildren; Tony, Kristin (Scott), Alix, Andrew, William, Blake, and Dylan. Four great grandchildren; Sloane, Pierceson, Jayden and Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents, nine siblings and her soulmate, Peter.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, December 7th, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Olinger Mortuary Hampden Mortuary, 8600 E Hampden Ave, Denver, CO 80231.
