Janis (Jan) Kay Ferraro, loving and treasured wife and mother, passed away on January 14th, 2023. She was recovering from a bone marrow transplant a day after her 65th birthday, in good spirits, when she developed a sudden brain bleed. She passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Walter Ferraro, two daughters, Danyelle Claire Overbo and Steffany Kay Overbo, son, Jeffrey Michael Overbo, and her grandsons Quinn Claren Pando and Roman Benjamin Oliver.
Janis was raised by her mother and father, Vivian and Daniel Krainski in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in her twenties where she raised her family and spent most of her life. In recent years, she and her husband retired and moved to Montrose, Colorado where they went trailer camping, gardened, shopped for antiques, and made trouble.
Janis loved planning and traveling, and she was always up for an adventure. You could easily find her in a crowd because of her laugh and because everyone around her would be laughing with her. She cared deeply about animals, and rescued many during her life. She leaves behind four extremely well-loved fur babies – Kewpie and Smudge (kitties) and Ella and Holly (pups). She took any and every opportunity to sing, and would often belt out her favorite karaoke song, I Hope You Dance, whether you wanted to hear it again or not. She enjoyed everything miniature, watching true crime dramas, crafting, and falling asleep to movies with epic soundtracks. Nothing would make her happier than entertaining a house full of people.
Above all, she loved spending time with her beloved grandkids. Over the past six months, she and her husband were staying with her daughter Danyelle, to be closer to her treatments, and she got to spend many deliriously happy hours with her four-year-old grandson, Quinn. They would drink coffee together in the mornings and snuggle on the couch after long days of adventure and play.
Janis was Lutheran and believed in an everlasting life where she will one day be reunited with her loved ones in eternal peace. Services will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 25th at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 6670 W Cheyenne Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89108 at 1pm. A celebration of Jan’s life will immediately follow.
