Florence Wilhelmine (Ebert) Benson was born on October 15, 1919 in Sutton Nebraska to parents Pauline (Griess) and Henry Ebert. She was baptized one month later and after moving to Denver, Colorado she was confirmed on May 27, 1934 at Redeemer Luther Church. She married Kenneth Benson on October 3, 1937. During World War II, Florence worked as a cashier at the Union Square Garage in San Francisco while her husband was stationed there with the Coast Guard. Her first day on the job she only made a 1 cent error. To her surprise, her boss was so impressed that he bought her three dozen roses. Once Kenneth was deployed to Alaska, she returned to Denver and worked for Norgren & Co with her Dad and older brother, Carl. After the war ended, Kenneth returned to work at the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad. Florence worked for the Denver Dry Goods, Van Schaack Realty, she managed the Albion apartment building and eventually worked for Blue Cross & Blue Shield as a Medical Claims Specialist where she retired in 1976. Florence and Kenneth loved planning their vacations and traveling together. Florence also loved sewing, knitting, bowling, fishing, and bridge. She was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church for many years. She was an active volunteer giving her time as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW #9466, a member of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, a member of Kiwanis Mountain View Golden K and also a member of the National Association of Civilian Conservation Corp. Alumni (CCC) chapter 7. Kenneth and Florence were never able to have children; however, they loved spending time with family and had a special place in their heart for all their nieces and nephews. Florence was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, and her siblings Herb Ebert (and wife Virginia), Carl Ebert (and wife Ruth), Reuben Ebert (and wife Alice), Art Ebert, Eddie Ebert (and wife Dorothy), and Wilma (Ebert) Driver (and husband Jim). She is survived by her Sister-in-Law, Betty Ebert (wife of Art Ebert), and numerous nieces and nephews.
