July 27, 1936 - June 17, 2012
Born in Denver's "Westside", Eleanor was the first child of Lena (Sigala) and Carl Acosta and the oldest of 17 children born by her mother.
Eleanor was the epitome of a good Christian woman. She had many wonderful traits and was very talented with her hands. She loved to quilt and cross stitch and her cooking and baking were second to none. She was an avid reader and read the paper every morning. By example and with love and encouragement, she and her husband raised their children to be independent thinkers, hard workers and compassionate people. In the past several years, Eleanor attended a water aerobics class several times a week and enjoyed both the exercise and the friendships she established while she "worked out". She was devoted to and loved her immediate family beyond what can be expressed in a few written words and she also loved her very large extended family. Eleanor will be forever missed and always remembered by all who knew her and loved her.
Eleanor is survived by her husband, Julian J. ("Saco") Montoya; her two children Annette M. Montoya and Julian J. (Michele) Montoya, II and four grandchildren; Justine, Vincent, Nicholas and Aaron. Her siblings Max Acosta, Marilyn Carrasco, Vivian DeLeon, Ernie Martinez, Charlene Romero, Richard Borrego, Rose Alarid, Debbie Lucero and Donna Borrego.
She is preceded in death by her mother Lena; her father Carl; her siblings Tony Acosta, Jimmie Acosta, Ronnie Acosta, RuthAnn Romero, Manual Borrego, Toby Borrego and Modesto Borrego.
